People are plopping butter on top of everything now. From eggs to coffee and everything in between. I use unsalted Kerrygold butter from grass-fed cows. You can find this brand of butter in grocers for under $3.00 (unless you’re shopping at Whole Foods) – look at Sprouts and Safeway for some savings.
We’ve been pre-programmed to think fat is unhealthy, but studies are showing that link is not only questionable but has serious flaws. Read this great article in the Wall Street Journal on dietary fats and heart disease.
Be sure to check with your health care provider before changing to a fat rich diet. I, for one, and thoroughly enjoying butter in heavier amounts. As with anything else, moderation may be the key. We know that good fats temper the appetite and decrease the drive for sweet treats serving to stabilize blood sugars – but that might not translate into an entire stick of butter over the course of the day.
