Having eliminated all sources of gluten without positive health results, many with celiac disease choose to delve deeper into their food sources. Potential food irritants and ingredients can be found in an overwhelming array of processed bagged, bottled and boxed foods.
Lactose is one of the dietary culprits identified at diagnosis for celiacs; patients are given fair warning to avoid lactose while the gut begins its healing process.
“Lactose Intolerant or Celiac Disease?”
Through elimination, many have also identified corn as a cause of their ill health, feeling worlds better after sweeping it from their diet. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the top three GMO’s (Genetically Modified Organisms) are soy, corn and cotton.
“Corn is the No. 1 crop grown in the U.S. and nearly all of it — 88 percent — is genetically modified. In addition to being added to innumerable processed foods, genetically modified corn is a staple of animal feed.” – According to the Huff Post
Corn is found in nearly every processed food and is not labeled as clearly as other allergens. While exploring for a thorough list of corn containing ingredients, I couldn’t believe the lengthy list I came across at Cornallergens.com.
I begin to wonder just what in the world have we created; what is wrong with whole foods? An overwhelming list of corn based ingredients is consumed via processed foods on a daily basis by most Americans – we just don’t know it. Take a gander at the list below, it scrolls on and on. If you are attempting to eliminate corn from your diet, don’t cozy up with any of these ingredients.
Celiac disease- now what?
“Simply eliminating cereal grains that promote inflammation and leaky gut is a step in the right direction. But if you remove the other 3 toxic foods soy, industrial seed oils, and sugar you’ll be one step closer to recovery. At that point, you’ll be eating a whole food, non-processed diet – which is ideal for optimal health based on what we know.”- According to scdlifestyle.com
