My daughter and I started speaking with the founders Hannah Chung and Aaron Horowitz a few years ago when Jerry the Bear was in his primitive stages. Since then, Jerry the Bear has made his way into the hands of 2% of kids with Type 1 diabetes and Sproutel has become an innovative force to reckon with. An idea that blossomed from a dad of a child with Type 1 diabetes has been successful at turning the head of none other than – yes, Warren Buffett.
A Jerry the Bear crowdfunding campaign is underway at Indiegogo with a lofty and impactful goal: Get Jerry the Bear into the hands of every diagnosed child – so let’s make it happen!
The first bears will be distributed to families that have submitted hardship applications through the Type 1 Diabetes Network. Once this queue is filled, other families will receive Jerry on a first come first served basis through affiliate non-profits.

Here’s what I had to say about Jerry:
I was fortunate enough to have Jerry the Bear with me at a JDRF kids event in Arizona earlier this year – and he was amazing! The kids with Type 1 diabetes as well as their siblings loved Jerry the Bear.
Jerry’s a soft and cuddly bear; he comes with 10 food cards, an insulin pen and an interactive screen on his belly. Kids play with Jerry by swiping chips over his mouth, checking his blood sugar level and giving him insulin with an insulin pen or with the pump on his screen.
